FeelGooder Asks: What’s New With You?

In my part of the world, it’s Autumn. It’s getting colder and greyer, the new-year momentum has worn off, and it’s all to easy to feel like I’m getting stuck in a rut. Unless, that is, I focus on the new stuff that crops up every so often in life (sometimes, whether we like it or not!).

Hey. What’s new with you?

This week, we added our last batch of summer chicks to our flock. These little ladies have been raised in a shed, so they’ve had an exciting week discovering what The Great Outdoors are all about.

A new chick meets the flock

Watching young animals (or babies) come to terms with the world around them is always enjoyable. I love it because it reminds me that no matter how boring daily life might seem at any given moment, there’s always so much we don’t know or understand—the thing is, we just don’t realize it.

Like the chicks raised in the shed, we don’t know what the world is really like until we begin to get out and explore it. As the saying goes, you don’t know what you don’t know.

Introducing the chicks to the flock has reminded me of some of the things I’ve been wanting to do—travel, work on a pet project of mine, and research some courses to study. Suddenly, the looming winter-time hibernation is looking like much more of an adventure than a rut…

That’s me. What’s new with you?

  1. Hi Georgina!

You got me thinking a little bit this morning. When people ask me “What’s new?” I always say “Not much. Same old, same old.” which is pretty much true. I’m just not one of those people who always has some new drama going on.

But that is pretty ungrateful of me isn’t it? To not take the time to acknowledge the spice and variety of life.

    So, What’s new?

Well, I have been writing quite a bit and learning as much as I can to improve my style and voice. It has been a fun new way to tap into my creative energy. I just got a fancy new little laptop so that I can write on the go and working in different environments has opened up the creative flow even more. My Dad is getting remarried and my baby brother is going to be a Daddy! Life is good! 🙂

    xoxo

  2. Hi Georgina, like you how watch the new little ones adapt and learn from it… I am excitedly going through a week with the head of the ashtanga yoga lineage in NYC and that is what is new over here… as opposed to you we also have the spring arriving with blooming chery trees in pink and white, much anticipated and missed… the promisse of the summer is also in the air…

  3. Orchid season is coming to an end. My husband is an orchid collector, grower, cultivator. I’m going to miss looking at all the gorgeous blooms out my back window.

  4. We’re waiting for spring to arrive here – an annual Chicago tradition that lasts far too long (the waiting that is, not spring).

  5. I moved to a rural area three years ago. I have a vegetable garden and was considering beekeeping. Also I wouldn’t mind getting some chickens as well.

Hey everyone, thanks for the thoughtful comments! They made my day 🙂

I think Jennefer makes a good point: we often think nothing’s happening in our humdrum lives, but there’s usually *something* going on. Especially with you guys, it seems 😉

  7. What’s new with me? I am getting used to looking at myself in a new body. Confused yet? I have decided to live healthier and have lost 32 pounds – over 8 months. I am sometimes shocked at what I see in the mirror. It is great! This is really a new feeling for someone who has struggled with weight for a long time. People ask me how I did it, as if I have some special secret that no one is letting them in on. I have read everything I can on food, nutrition, and health. My new favorite phrase is “Awesome Sauce!”

  8. I am really loving the theme/design of your site.

Do you ever run into any web browser compatibility problems?

A few of my blog readers have complained about my site not operating correctly in Explorer but looks great in Safari.
Do you have any recommendations to help fix this problem?
